Smokey and the Bandit

Muscle cars and high speed chases my vague memory of the old school King of Mo's Burt Reynolds  "Smokey and the Bandit".

I think this title sums up the " I AM CROSSFIT CHALLENGE" Week 1, a good majority of the peeps have taken to the challenge guns blazing, smashing the WoDs, pushing the weight and making sure this lifestyle challenge makes a permanent impression on their lives. Not too many Mo's going around...YET? roll on movember..

The first week saw us move through some very intense WoDs, that left myself and I am sure most of the others pretty stiff and sore by the time we got to the weekend.

The week started with our baseline.."Grace" I opted for intermediate for the challenge as my upper strength still has a long way to go.

Monday - Grace - 45KG's -Time 3:35 - my Goal for the end of the Challenge...a 2 Minute completion of grace.
Tuesday - Snatch workout - I have a lot of work to do here on mechanics - (SPEED / FINISH)
Wednesday - single Leg Squats, KB Swings, DU's - DU's need a lot of prac as well as Pistols. My Ass was sore for 3 days from the squats.
Thursday - AMRAP in a team - Rope Climbs and 200m Runs...My rope climbs are getting there I just need to work on technique when my arms are too tired.
Friday - "ANGIE" - She was tough but super enjoyable..completed in 24mins.

Saturday was the highlight of the week, the Saturday team workout. AMPRAP -   Clean, Shoulder to Overheard, Back Sqaut. 50KG's in 40 mins

The Instensity from the entire community was insane, from the first Second...and for every second until the 40 mins were completed I think all 30 odd peeps put sweat and tears into that workout...each team averageing just over 30 tons. Much respect to all , Saturday summed up why I enjoy every moment at Crossfit Jozi and keep coming back every day....the vibe, the noise everything...it was perfect.
I am sure a few peeps have suffered a small bout of Paleo flu where you feeling a little fatigued and tired, just push through it once you get over this hurdle it is all smooth sailing and you will notice a considerable improvement in energy and strength.

Don't give into the Sugar craving, there may be time when you almost feel like pulling a Dexter on the person in the office enjoying there chocolate, but push through and get your fix at training. The reward is far greater from training than a good taste and a 10 min sugar rush which will leave you flat on your face when it is worn away.

I will post my measurement results and pix this week...a little camera shy in that department.

This week may be the toughest week to get through simply because your body is starting to take notice of a change in lifestyle, remember the community values and you will get through it.

Enjoy week 2 and most of all have fun.
